I purchased two cases to display a personal mineral collection. While not qualifying as "fine furniture," I found the finish and the workmanship to be of high quality overall. The piece is also very robust, with no skimping of materials. The side-entry doors allow an unobstructed view of the case contents from the front, an important consideration for me. The only minor annoyance I encountered was the cam-lock system securing the top, which required the fastening posts to be unscrewed almost entirely to engage the cam- this might have been better designed. It should be mentioned that the shelf height is fixed, limiting the height of the display pieces and method of display. The bottom-lighting system uses two small halogen bulbs beneath a translucent white diffusing panel. A nice feature, but of somewhat limited practical utility as compared with more traditional top-lighting. The cabinet has a sturdy look and great presence, but could be overpowering alongside more lightly constructed furniture. Overall however, a good, sharp-looking little piece for the money.
