I ordered the Steffy Toddler Book Dislplay for use with toddlers and preschoolers in a home day care setting. The dimensions are small, but that is a plus for saving space and accessibility. I placed this bookshelf in a "nook" with pillows and think it is just perfect. You can shelf 12 small to medium sized books, including "fattish" board books. Tall books can find a home laterally on the bottom shelf or the shelf can be used for storing puzzles or other quiet time items. I used to display my entire library collection (not inconsiderable) traditionally with the spines facing out. Of course, most books for preschoolers are rather thin and I found that the children often didn't choose books as an activity. Since buying this bookshelf and rotating books every week, I've found the book area more frequently used. Often early childhood products are designed for Kindergarten aged children, but this piece is just the right size for smaller children.
