The overall constuction of the chalk board is good, Maybe it was the chalk that was used, but I purchased the board and the chalk& eraser together and the eraser does not erase, and the chalk scratches the surface.

We've mounted it in our son's room. He's two and he loves it. We draw pictures and he identifies them and he also "writes and draws" himself. I don't think it's sturdy enough for classroom use but it's perfect for home use. It's a little bit hard to clean but not impossible. Overall, it's good value for the price. I researched other websites and this was the best price I could find.
